As the FIFA World Cup 2026 enters its final phase, HITN Media, the nation's leading Spanish-language public television network, has successfully transformed its Brooklyn Navy Yard rooftop into a world-class international broadcast center. The hub, managed by PGS Group of France, has been delivering live coverage to over 90 million viewers across Sub-Saharan Africa via New World TV, a Pan-African broadcaster.
The 23,000-square-foot rooftop terrace at HITN's waterfront studios was selected after evaluating multiple New York City locations. Its unparalleled Manhattan skyline views and robust technical infrastructure made it ideal for supporting a complex, large-scale live broadcast operation. Approximately 40 international broadcast professionals have operated from the site, producing live programming from studios, production offices, and a technical hub, all supported by HITN's state-of-the-art facilities.
“As the tournament reaches its conclusion, this project has demonstrated the extraordinary capabilities of HITN Media’s Brooklyn studios as a premier destination for international media production,” said Michael D. Nieves, President and CEO of HITN. “Our facilities combine a distinctive New York setting with the technology, connectivity, and operational expertise required by global broadcasters.”
New World TV CEO Aboubakar Coulibaly emphasized the importance of location. “New York City is one of the world’s great stages, and for a tournament of this magnitude we wanted a location that reflected the energy, ambition, and global reach of our coverage. HITN Media’s rooftop provided the ideal combination of visual impact and broadcast capabilities.”
PGS Group designed, integrated, and delivered the entire hub within weeks, managing technical architecture, production systems, transmission, and daily operations. CEO Michaël Viviani noted, “This project demonstrates what can be achieved when world-class facilities are combined with international broadcast expertise.”
The successful execution reinforces HITN Media's Brooklyn Navy Yard campus as a premier destination for live television and major sporting events. Project management was led by Juan Pablo Santos of Wood Creek Road Productions, coordinating operational and vendor needs.
This announcement matters because it underscores New York City's growing role as a hub for international media production, particularly for large-scale sporting events. The ability to host a World Cup broadcast center in Brooklyn not only brings economic activity and global attention to the area but also positions HITN Media as a key player in the competitive market for broadcast facilities. For the New York metro area, this project demonstrates that the city's infrastructure can support complex live operations, potentially attracting more international broadcasters and events in the future. Additionally, the partnership between HITN Media, PGS Group, and New World TV highlights the interconnected nature of global media, with a Spanish-language network facilitating coverage for an African audience from a New York rooftop.
HITN Media reaches more than 35 million homes in the United States and Puerto Rico through providers like DIRECTV, AT&T U-verse, and Comcast Xfinity. New World Televisions S.A, headquartered in Lomé, Togo, delivers premium sports content across French-speaking Africa, including rights to the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and LaLiga. PGS Group is a France-based international broadcast company specializing in complex live operations worldwide.
