tZERO Expands into Derivatives Market with CFTC Introducing Broker Registration

tZERO Group, Inc., a blockchain-based financial infrastructure provider, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, tZERO Introducing Broker, LLC, has completed registration with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as an introducing broker and became a National Futures Association member. This expansion into derivatives markets marks a strategic move to integrate regulated derivative products into tZERO's existing platform for tokenized securities.

As an introducing broker, tZERO will be able to solicit and accept customer orders for CFTC-regulated derivatives and pass those orders to a Designated Contract Market or Futures Commission Merchant for execution and clearing on a fully disclosed basis. Initially, the company will use this license to offer event contracts on its forthcoming multi-asset platform. Event contracts, also known as prediction contracts, are derivatives that pay out based on the occurrence of a specified future event, such as an economic or political outcome.

Alan Konevsky, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of tZERO, said in a statement: "The launch of tZERO Introducing Broker is another example of our strategy to expand our market-leading, vertically integrated infrastructure stack for tokenized securities horizontally to a range of CFTC-regulated products." He emphasized building "trusted, regulated and independent infrastructure that enables institutions and investors to participate in an expanding range of financial markets."

The approval follows tZERO's previously announced applications for Designated Contract Market and Derivatives Clearing Organization registrations, signaling a broader derivatives strategy. As financial markets evolve, tZERO aims to build interoperable infrastructure that connects traditional and emerging markets through regulated, technology-driven solutions.

By expanding its regulated platform capabilities, tZERO seeks to help institutions and investors access next-generation financial markets with trust, transparency, and compliance. The company's infrastructure now spans both securities and derivatives, potentially unlocking asset silos and enabling seamless client experiences.

The risk disclosure statement accompanying the announcement warns that trading event contracts involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor. It notes that prices can move quickly and unpredictably, and there is no assurance of liquidity. The regulatory treatment of certain event contracts continues to evolve and may vary by jurisdiction.
