3TC Facility Expands with Indoor Pickleball Courts to Meet Rochester Demand

The 3TC multi-sport facility in East Rochester has expanded its offerings with three new indoor pickleball courts, responding to what operators describe as tremendous demand for the sport in the Rochester area. The courts opened in early December and are available to the public without membership requirements during weekday hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with modified Wednesday hours ending at 3 p.m. This expansion represents a strategic response to pickleball's rapid growth in popularity nationwide, with Rochester-area players previously facing limited options for indoor play during colder months.

Tom Curtin, who oversees pickleball operations at the facility, emphasized the quality of the new courts, which feature an Omnicourt cushioned surface designed to provide consistent bounce, traction, and shock absorption to minimize joint impact. This surface technology represents a significant investment in player comfort and safety. The facility also boasts excellent lighting and generous spacing between courts, creating what Curtin called a beautiful environment for pickleball enthusiasts. By converting existing space within their multi-sport facility, 3TC has created dedicated pickleball infrastructure without requiring new construction, demonstrating how established sports facilities can adapt to emerging recreational trends while serving broader community needs.

Players can participate in Open Play sessions throughout the day, with specific time blocks available for registration through the Craig Demmin Soccer app. The facility has implemented attendance caps to ensure quality playing time, limiting 2-hour sessions to 20 players and 3-hour sessions to 24 participants. Craig Demmin, owner and operator of 3TC and a former professional soccer player with the Rochester Raging Rhinos, sees pickleball as an ideal complement to the facility's established soccer programs.

Demmin noted that while his soccer camps, leagues, and specialized training draw players from across the region, the addition of pickleball addresses a different but equally important community need. The 20,000 square-foot facility at 920 Linden Avenue now serves dual sporting purposes, reflecting broader trends in recreational sports facility diversification. The introduction of pickleball at 3TC comes with promotional incentives for new players, including a free first session for those who download the app, create an account, and sign the required waiver.

Throughout December, the facility is offering bonus credits for account deposits, providing additional value for regular players. These initiatives aim to build community engagement around the new courts while making the sport accessible to players of all skill levels.
